Mathasib
On your way back from the Sultan Hj Ahmad Shah Airport-Kuantan,just after leaving the airport’s gate, ever notice a sign board which reads “Mathasib” ?
It’s nothing to do with :-
- “Maths” or
- A Fortune Teller
It’s a sign board of a stall specializing in ” Roti Canai “; The owner is Mat Hasib.I guess it’s the same as the word “machine” but commercially written as Mac Hine.
In case you are in Kg Pandan Satu, ( When you are out of the Airport’s gate, you are in that Kampung ) look for Mak Cik Pah a kampung stall ,specialist in preparing the delicious :-
- “nasi dagang” - Offered only on Saturday
- “nasi minyak”
- “nasi lemak”
..and of course with other “kuih” and hot drinks
What do you get for RM2.00 nowadays ?
Ask Makcik Pah and she will give you a FULL PLATE of delicious nasi lemak, sambal ikan bilis , mentimun , an egg ( boiled ) AND A CUP OF “MILK TEA” ( a medium size ) !!
P/S : It’s not a half or even a quater of boiled egg but “satu biji telur rebus ”
However, you have to ask someone before you can find the stall - a five minutes drive from the air port’s gate or better still look for Lorong Wak Satay.
With the price of petrol and other “barang dapur naik” , do you still make a profit Mak Cik?
Mak Cik Pah smiles; she takes a flight to Penang once a month to visit her daughter.
